THE HEART OF LEADERSHIP – SERVICE

Not all leaders can anticipate what will happen next but all leaders can response on what will be the result of their decisions.

Leaders have the sense of responsibility – coming from the words “response” and “ability”. This refers on how leaders deal with things.

Leaders nowadays are those who set an example to others. They don’t just command, preach or teach but they act on things and live according to their ideals in life with an open mind and heart. Leaders emerge in time of need. They give hope to their followers.

We are now living on a fast changing world. As time passes by, man demanded more on their need and wants, not contented with what they have. People sometimes overlook the needs of their fellowmen. That’s why leaders from different walks of life with different principles came to live and serve.

Many among leaders today sacrificed members of their organization or governments in order to achieve their goals. This is not the way a true leader does. It must be that leaders offer themselves as sacrificial lamb for the betterment of all. Have the feeling of selflessness. This is the idea of servanthood works.

Leaders must also provide the need of their members or followers and inspire them to do productive and self satisfying things.

Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Martin Luther King whose idea of servanthood applied in life in order to attain peace without waging war so that lives may be saved. They are good leaders who translate vision into action and not reaction but response to all the problems they had faced.

Young leaders of today must value the attitude of being Fair, Accountable and Transparent to whatever they do so that their followers would be able to see how things work and that corruption will be lost.

All of us must be responsible of everything we do. Do not rely much to our leaders as John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what the government can do for you but what you can do for the government.” Together we can achieve our goals and aspirations when we held our hands together.

The only constant thing in this world is change. And so we must change according to the needs of our fellowmen and make a difference in our life.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam – For the greater Glory of GOD. #
